5 for Friday

Five for Friday Headliners~
#1
Our school started the OAA testing this week!
We had an amazing visit by motivational speaker Basketball Jones who did an awesome job "pumpin the kids up" for the test!  He even included our primary littles in all the events!  I grabbed my iPad and recorded  two performances that were precious!
The first is teaching a lesson on how to listen and follow directions quickly!
The second clip is rockin' out to Miley Cyrus and yours truly was waving her hands in the air AND trying to keep the iPad recording at the same time!!

Earth week is so special to me!
I love this time of the year...
Thinking of ways to make our lives cleaner, healthier, safer for years to come.

# 3
To help us examine the cause and effect relationships of real-world topics like recycling and saving the Earth, we introduced TRIGGER the MOUSE!
Trigger loves listening for Trigger words like "because" or "so" when he is reading because that tells him that there is a cause and effect happening at that point.

This was the second story in 2 weeks that got this teacher teary-eyed.  Perfect for examining cause and effect.
The kids connected so well with it.
Makes this teacher MIGHTY happy that they did!

D5 Math Rounds

The students are using a Math Menu to record and document choices throughout the week.
Feel free to click on the image below to download.
This was so easy to make in powerpoint.  I thought using actual photographs of each item would be more effective than anything else!   We have a tiny space dedicated for our Math Daily 5 materials.
I think our rule of thumb will be keeping the materials out for as long as the interest is there.  Once I notice a stalemate with a material, it will be time to change it out.
We have a sample Math Menu  hanging there with the total number of students allowed at each station.
This is definitely a work-in-progress  but the kids are having so much fun with it so I must be on the right track!
I am so excited that so many of you have shared your Math rotations and routines this year!  It has been extremely helpful, thank you!

Happy Weekend Ya'll!
--------------------------------------------------
I had this blog post ready to publish Thursday night.
Friday morning, I received a phone call before leaving for school..
Chris was involved in a bad accident on the interstate.
After many hours at the hospital getting scans and tests,
He sore-fully walked out, holding my hand.
God is almighty,
and my heart aches with joy that my prayers were heard AND answered.
I am truly blessed and I want to thank you so much for your prayers and get well wishes for Chris.  Keep them coming.  He's on the mend but every thoughtful prayer counts!
With love and gratitude,
