Irish Eyes Are A Smilin' this Five for Friday!

 TGIF bloggers!
I know.  It's been several weeks since my last post but WOWZA!
Have I been a busy girl.  Let's see....Putting the final touches on the May wedding, typing up my second and FINAL teacher evaluation for next week, confirming tickets and itinerary with the travel agent for the honeymoon to Italy......Yes.  I am so SUPER excited about being a bride in 67 days!!!  Woot-Woot!!!
Thank goodness for today's Five for Friday linky which gives us the ability to SHOUT OUT all that is fabulous this week!
One of our feature author's this month is a returning favorite to Room 102!  Denise Brennan-Nelson has so many incredible picture books that cover such an enormous span of content.....I try to squeeze her in as much as possible!

Our classroom library is stocked-full of Denise's most popular stories!
We posted our new Author studies on our Focus Wall-
Diving into story elements was a breeze
using these treasures by Denise---
"Maestro Stu Saves the Zoo" and "Someday is NOT a Day of the Week."
Of course, Ellie the Story Elements Elephant is one of our Critters from the Critter Cafe collection.

Ellie has been helping us sniff out the important story elements in all of our stories this month.
Along with Ellie, we found more retelling activities in a special Literature Unit that was published just for this book-

Goodness, Gracious!  Look who else popped in to remind us how to open our minds when we read and use our schema to  make connections...
Meerkat the Connector made another appearance this week AND brought us a present!  We now have a kid-size pass-it-around-thought bubble to stimulate our thinking when we are reading!
Another Story Retelling Favorite of mine was created by Cara Carrol over at The First Grade Parade.  I just adore her anchor charts and the kids LOVE the Wizard of Oz connections!
This week's Word Work studies-
During the last TPT sale, I grabbed this awesome bundle by my favorite duo over at Fluttering Through First Grade! I absolutely LOVE it and the booklets are now a weekly favorite in room 102!

The kids are so excited about these spinner games!

Another Fraction Favorite is by my sweetie, Lisa Mattes over at Growing Firsties!  It's still a FREEBIE so grab it and leave her some LOVE!
